In need of some Bujo inspiration to create your next bullet journal weekly spread? There are times that nothing seems encouraging to do!
There are times where you are just bursting with ideas, so excited you can't choose which theme to go with. And other days... you got absolutely no clue and nothing seems to spark that boost of creative energy.
It happens to the best of us...
A bullet journal weekly spread is one of my most-used spreads in my bujo. It can get boring recreating the same layout (unless that's what you want), but if you're anything like me and always on the lookout to try a different layout... then let's get on with it!
And if you're new to bullet journaling, then let's start with covering the basics!
What goes in a bullet journal weekly spread?
- Appointments
- Special dates - birthdays
- To-do lists
- Projects due
- Weekly goals
- Meals and snacks
- Things you want to get done
- Memories you want to remember on a certain day
How do I create a bullet Journal weekly spread?
The beauty of a bullet journal is that you have the freedom to try different spreads and see what's more suitable for your needs. You can style these spreads in so many ways and make them as unique and creative as you like.
A different style to consider include:
- one-page layout
- two-page layout
- Horizontal layout
- vertical layout
- Dutch doors
- Different themes
How do you use a bullet journal weekly spread?
First, you want to fill in the events from your monthly and yearly calendar and write them in your weekly spread.
You can use a weekly spread any way you like but here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Write your top priorities at the top of your list
- Section personal/Work/School to make your spread more organized
- You can color-code different sections
- Use key symbols to make planning easier

One-Page Weekly layout

One-page layouts are great when you don't have much going on that particular week. So when in the mood for simple and minimal, whip up a quick horizontal spread that's quick and minimal. Separate each day with some cute thin washi tape, giving you space of four lines per day.

This January's one-page weekly spread is all about the font. I didn't have much to do at that time so I went all out on the heading. I added some thin washi tape for some color. Although, I have to admit I much prefer two-page spreads. More room for illustrations and creativity :))))

Horizontal spreads are my favorites. You have enough room to write, doodle, and extra space for notes! I used Tombow Dual Brush Pens And a set of Micron fine liner pens. It didn't take me long to make and it's just so cute.

This is my sisters first weekly spread in her journal. Cute easy doodles using a horizontal layout and some fine liner pens. She went for a bubbly font heading to go with her cartoon themed spread and it turned out adorable.

This two-page spread was all about the contrast between white ink drawing on kraft paper and black ink floral drawing on white paper. I think it's safe to say this spread was more about the drawing... hahaha! Added some Valentine stickers because it was February and a pop of red to the spread. I didn't allocate boxes for each spread, just a space for each day. I wanted the drawing to be the main focus!
If you want to draw with white gel pen, just make sure to choose the no. 10. The smaller sizes don't flow as smoothly and can be sooo frustrating.

Black ink florals with gold headings. A two-page layout using the top part of the spread as a floral banner for the heading. By the way, these florals are super easy to draw and best of all- you get a stunning result!
As for the headings, lettering them with our all-time favorite sakura gold gel pen!
![bullet journal weekly spread bicycle](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0681/0258/6678/files/IMG_17241-1024x1024.jpg)
This two-page weekly spread is vintage-inspired bicycle drawings, imperfect black ink sketches, and a pop of blue for the florals. I didn't feel the time drawing this until my daughter woke up screaming for her bottle of milk!

I think this type of layout is the best of both worlds, a space to add some creativity and enough space to section out all days of the week. It's so practical, and would be my go-to if I wasn't so obsessed with trying something new every week!

Another weekly spread with the cute vintage-inspired doodles, that went with my whole theme. Three sections on each page, giving more room for each day and one box for the weekend. This is really useful if you don't have much to write on the weekend and if you have extra space, just doodle or add a small quote.

Watercolor Bullet Journal Weekly Spreads
![bullet journal weekly spread bird and floral theme idea](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0681/0258/6678/files/bullet-journal-weekly-spread-bird-and-floral-theme-idea--1024x1024.jpg)
A watercolor illustrated bird with some floral borders using bright summery colors is just what you need when you want to brighten up your day. With trial and error, we tried this set of Japanese paints and found them much easier to use in our journals than traditional western watercolor paints. Also, the page doesn't warp as much and you can really layer on your colors.

A gold painted moon with ink floral illustrations to create this vertical weekly spread. Using just a letter for each day and smaller sections for the weekend. This rose gold paint is out of this world and this picture doesn't do it justice.

Another weekly spread from the same theme, using a different weekly layout. The floral banner illustration in the middle of this two-page weekly layout and gold inks splattered all over the quote section. My sister is a perfectionist and to see her splash gold paint on her spreads during this month was certainly out of her comfort zone :)
![bullet journal weekly watercolor landscape theme](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0681/0258/6678/files/File_004-1-1024x1024.png)
Here's another weekly layout where she paints two contrasting vertical paintings and sticks them in side-by-side. She then uses one side for her daily to-dos and the other side for gratitude and any extra notes she wants to add.
Dutch door weekly spreads
![bullet journal watercolor weekly spread Dutch door idea](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0681/0258/6678/files/File_0027.jpeg)
A watercolor landscape weekly spread taking up half the page. She uses the bottom half of her A5 notebook as a Dutch door and a quote at the end of her spread. Using only the first letter of each day of the week allowing more room for jotting down notes and way more room for ART!!! (If that's your thing, ofcourse).
If you feel intimidated to add watercolor paintings to your journal, especially if your pages aren't thick enough. We just paint on watercolor paper, cut it out and stick it in. That way, you can try, try, till your happy with it!
Most importantly it's much easier to blend colors on watercolor paper, so it's a WIN-WIN in my opinion!
Love birds in a golden cage. I think this spread is my favorite out of her journal this year. She paints her cage in this gorgeous gold, cuts it out using a craft knife (which did take quite a while). Then glues just the right side, turning it into a dutch door. Adds some florals at the top and uses the left page as her weekly spread. It was so much fun to try something new and well worth the time to make it.
So I was dying to try a cottage house theme and this painting just took up the whole two pages. I thought there would be enough room on the left side to fill in my weekly, but I didn't take into account how hard it would be to jot down notes over my painting. So I thought of cutting out some Kraft paper, and binding the pages together using some washi tape.
*Tip: Make sure to add washi tape between each page to make sure it doesn't fall apart.
Then finally stuck it in and although it wasn't what I initially planned, I was happy with the end result.

I know, more gold!! Another gorgeous gold weekly spread and Batoul really took it to the next level with her floral illustrations. The Dutch door is a practical way to add two weeks to one spread. Want to see her whole theme with how-to-draw peony flowers then make sure to read this next...

So I was so stuck on what theme to choose for the month of June. Searching on Pinterest... but nothing motivated me! I just kept changing my mind on what to do until my husband walked in with a bouquet of purple flowers. The minute I saw them I knew that's what I wanted to paint.
I painted each flower separately and then arranged them at the end of each page and cut around each flower. So you could see the flowers overlaying each other, one for each week of the month :)
![bullet journal weekly spread watercolor desserts theme](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0681/0258/6678/files/IMG_2159-1024x1024.png)
Last but not least, a watercolor dessert theme that gives you happy sugar vibes. Trying a new style with 4 even boxes on each page and one vertical long section, adding Small painted deserts with a quote to put a smile on anyone's face.
So that's it guys.. hope you got some inspiration! Just remember to enjoy the process, get creative and have fun doing it and if you are stuck... take a break... look for inspiration... and something will eventually spark!
