How to Make a Bullet Journal clock theme setup

How to Make a Bullet Journal clock theme setup

My August bullet journal theme was all about making spreads with different vintage clock drawings on each layout. It is a timeless aesthetic classic theme.

I got my inspiration from searching vintage clocks on Pinterest, and then I saved the ones I like. When creating these spreads, you will notice that my illustrations are not perfect; they are just loose imperfect sketches. It's my favorite way of drawing and the one I'm most comfortable with because it lets me be free with my creativity.

So let's start with the star of the show, and that is:

August Monthly Cover Page

I wanted my head to be something different, so I searched vintage fonts and loved how unique this was. Especially when comparing to the usual calligraphy. I knew I wanted to draw a pocket watch because I love how they look. By adding the chain to the other side of the page and a key hanging down.

You can never go wrong by adding florals to any spread. So I went for a vintage style drawing of yellow flowers and placed them overlapping the pocket watch.

I opted for coloring-in pencils because they have such a massive variety of colors, and I could get that old-looking drawing style. It is much harder to achieve this look with markers.

A vintage spread needs some Kraft paper to complete the look, grid paper for the small calendar, and old-style washi tape.

The top side of the page looked relatively empty, so I remembered a Zig gold marker with quite a rusted vintage hue. So I began to color it in, and I felt it was the finishing touch to my spread.

Bujo monthly overview spread

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of monthly overview spreads. I add a small calendar with just enough space to jot down the highlights of the month. Then, on the corresponding page, you have sections to fill in during the month. This month I went with:

  • highlights
  • to-do
  • stats

This spread was so simple yet so functional. I highly recommend you give it a go.

Half the page was dedicated to drawing a picture I had seen of a vintage clock with books and flowers on a wooden table. I attempted to sketch it and just added a touch of blue.

This month I was moving houses, and to say it was overwhelming; would be an understatement. So being so busy, yet need space to jot down appointments, to-do's, and so on.

This layout was so easy to create and different from my usual. A weekly spread with a two-page layout, except I, incorporated two weeklies into one. I used thin washi tape to divide the day to make my designs easier to make. Then, cut out vintage drawings from different washi tapes and placed them around my spread. I drew an old grandfather clock on the right side of my layout using a brown gel pen for the details and Tombow brush markers. I added some gold with my trusty Sakura gel pen to complete the spread.

When you are tight for time, adding washi tape is one of the best hacks to create beautiful spreads in no time. I love using washi tape as a border. This weekly layout is one of my favorites; it allows for a small space to draw. More importantly, it provides enough room to write down all your weekly planning.

Another Weekly layout using Washi tape as the border, except I used a weekly pad and pasted it in for a quick spread. I’ve been so busy this month, and these fast spreads saved time.
I finished the spread by lettering a quote, ‘Don’t watch the clock: Do what it does KEEP GOING.’
The quote was perfect for tackling a busy month with so many tasks, and I loved how it turned out.

Vintage bullet journal clock theme Mood tracker

Using a clock as a mood tracker was ideal, except I used patterns as my mood key with a gold gel pen. I wanted to add color, so using my stamp inks and a blending brush allows for beautiful backgrounds that are super easy to make.
I didn't know where it was going, so I was super pleased with the result.
