Bullet Journal Master to-do list
The master list consists of writing down everything we need to do in no particular order. It is much like a bullet journal Dump spread, except were incorporating the same method with our to-do list.
A bullet journal brain dump is a spread that consists of jotting down all your thoughts on a paper in no particular order. By writing it all down you declutter your thoughts and gain clarity. This can help you be more focused and productive.
You don't need to worry about how relevant or important the task is. It's ok if you don't remember everything, you can always add it to this list. It's all about taking one step at a time and figuring things out.
Sorting out your bullet journal to-do list into categories
Bullet journaling is so beneficial that you get to customize your spreads to what suits you.
So now that we have our master list done, the next step would be to analyze our list and figure out how we want to categorize it. Starting with:
- Top Priorities - The most critical tasks that have to get done.
- Important - This is the list you dive into once you have completed your top priorities.
- Not Important - If you have time and energy, tackle this list, but it's ok if you don't.
- Daily - Repetitive tasks you need to complete daily. You can use a habit tracker spread to help you stay on track. Want to know more about habit trackers?
Ultimate Habit Tracker Guide You Need To Be More Productive - Weekly - Weekly tasks, especially if you group tasks, can choose a specific day to complete them.
- Monthly - Tasks you have to do once a month.
- Yearly - Yearly tasks like subscriptions and so forth. This way you won't forget.
- Items you need to buy - Nothing worse than going to a department store only to come home and realize you forgot to get something (we've all been there!)
- Work - A step-by-step list to give you the most productive outcome!
- Finance - Don't forget to pay your bills or anything money-related.
- Family time - If you find family a top priority, then you need to make sure to MAKE time.
- Appointments - What I'm not too fond of more than making appointments is getting late for one and, even worse, forgetting the date altogether.
- Self-care - You are important, and taking care of yourself is not selfish. Want to know all about bullet journal self-care? then read this next Bullet Journal Self-Care. Easy Steps To A Healthier Mind

Depending on your list, you can choose what categories are relevant to you. Try to keep it simple; with trial and error, you will find what works best for you. An excellent starting point to declutter your list.
Organize your master list
Now it's time to organize our wardrobe. You want to start dividing your master list into their allocated categories. Try to put what's most important at the top of each list, working your way down.
With the free printables, I've also included an empty template that you can fill in your own categories.
Finally, you have a clear outline of your list, schedule them in your monthly, weekly, or daily spreads.
Don't you feel a pound lighter?
Nothing is as annoying as wanting to start your productive day but fidgeting for an hour trying to figure out where to start.
I know this may take a chunk of your time, but it's well worth it. You won't be wasting your time every morning with a thousand things that need to get done.
The benefits of a bullet journal to-do list
- You start your day with the top priority on your list and then work your way down. So what you don't get done will still be on the list, but you can focus on the essential tasks on hand.
- You have your repetitive tasks allocated in your daily, weekly, monthly, and so on. A time saver because you have your daily to-do's ready to go, and you don't waste time figuring out where to start.
- You will not waste time on tasks that are not so important when you could be way more productive doing your most important ones.
- You have a guideline, and you won't waste time figuring out what to do next.
- Writing it all down and organizing all your thoughts will offer a lot more clarity and overall focus.
- You have just made yourself a clear road map, and you know the exact steps you need to get to your destination.
